They always use the FULL name when someone commits a heinous crime. It helps prevent someone else with the same TWO names being persecuted or confused with the real criminal.
I mean, what's the probability of TWO John Wayne Gacys?

How do you differentiate between a murderer and an assassin? If i kill one person I'm I a murderer or an assassin? Or is it how I kill them that matters? I think Adolf Hitler would qualify as an assassin, as would Sadamn Hussien, they only use two names.

Because the media want to get it right. If media report that James Ray killed a guy, it can be a problem for every James Ray out there. If they report that James Earl Ray killed a guy, they've been more precise, and been more fair to all of those other James Rays.

It's so that all other Lee Oswalds in the world don't get mistaken for Kennedy's killer.
Actually, Lee Harvey Oswald didn't actually kill Kennedy. The mob did it. He should be stripped of his Harvey.
