Hi I have an interesting problem but it's probably really simple for one you lot to fathom out, but for me it's doing my head in.

I have downloaded a film it was packed with winrar unpacked it and it's come out with two files that i have never seen before bin and cue, After reading some forums and links it turns out this has to be burnt using Nero or similar, the problem is i want to put the film on my external hard drive , no matter what i open the file with WMP, RO , DVD it doesn't work. Can someone please write me step by step instructions on how to watch this film. I'll award the points asap.

These are image files. With Nero, open Start Smart and go to Burn Image to CD/DVD. Nero 6 recognizes all usuall image file formats so there shouldn't be any problems.
If you prefer to play the file locally without burning it to a cd/dvd, download deamon tools and then (after installing) click on mount and select the bin file. (in general the cue file isn't really needed, just in case you want to check the consistency of the image file).
Daemon Tools is very small (less then 1 Mb) and it doesn the job!

Those are image file formats. Not the normal image you would assume, but a copy of a cd/dvd. There should be an option in nero to make "Virtual Drives". These are like cd drives on the hard drive so to speak. You can mount the .bin or.cue file onto one of these image drives.

A simpler method would be to download daemon tools and mount the image on that. But if you dont mind spending the money, Alcohol 120% does the same thing but reads more image formats.

EDIT: All the guys above pretty much hit the nail on the head. My method just doesn't require you to burn a cd.

Cue/Bin format is simillar to ISO format but rarer.

You can

1. Open the file for writing using nero, burn it and voila

OR

2. There are programms that use a virtual drive. Its like any other CD/DVD-ROM drive but it doesnt actulay exist if u know what i mean. And on IT you can mount CD IMAGES, like CUE/BIN , ISO ,TAC....etc

My advise is to get Deamon tools. http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php . After installing ur gonna se another drive. When opening the prog you will see just a icon in the TRAY next to the time...its red with a D i think. Anyway left click it, then mount an image, you can then browse to the file.

Then if no Autoexe is detected go to My compunter and u might see the virtual drive has an icon, open the drive and then look 4 the movie, copie it on ur drive and presto, gl

Well what you do, is either

A. You can put the two files in the same folder... then using nero burn an Image cd, and select that .cue file and only that and hit burn.. And that will burn the bin file, and it basicly makes an exact copy of the original onto the disk.

Easier
B. download http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html its called virtual clone drive, and it will allow you to open that file as if it where a cd, it makes a virtual cd-rom on your system. Once you have it open, i assume its probably a dvd copy so you will need to open it with dvd player software

These files are image files of a CD/DVD (a virtual drives). Download DAEMON TOOLS on the internet. It will install another CD/DVD drive (a virtual drive). Start DAEMON TOOLS by right clicking the icon in the system tray (right bottom corner) choose mount image, browse whre the cue/bin files are and you'll be able to open the movie as any other normal CD/DVD disc

A .bin file is an image file. In order to play it you need to do one of two things: (1) you burn the .bin file to a CD/ DVD or (2) you mount it on to a virtual drive emulator. A virtual drive emulater tricks the computer in to believing the .bin file has already been burn on to a CD or DVD. There are several virtual drive emulators available for free, such asL Daemon tools (Adware), Microsoft's Virtual drive (freeware) or Elaborate Bytes' Virtual CloneDrive (freeware). My preference is Elaborate Bytes' Virtual CloneDrive it is free and has a lot of feature. You can download them from:
1.) Daemon tools http://www.filehippo.com/software/dvd/
2.) Virtual CloneDrive http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html
3.) Windows Virtual Drive http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_tips620.html

Below, you will find two articles written on Tech-recipes.com. The first articles explains .bin files and virtual drive emulators. The second article includes step-by-step instructions on how to use and play .bin files using Windows Virtual Drive.

People frequently get confused regarding these file types. Here's how to use these files.

*.bin
*.cue
*.iso

These file extensions are commonly used to show that a file is an image of a CD or DVD.

The most simple way to access these files is to use your CD or DVD Burner to burn them to a disk. Nero is a common program that is used to burn bin/cue files to hard media.

One really nice thing to do is to treat these files as a virtual CD or DVD without ever burning them. Daemon Tools is one program that is often used to do this. Microsoft now has a free program that does this as well.

The other place that *.bin files are frequently used are in emulation software. Gaming roms are often stored in compressed files full of bin files. If you have a zip file full of *.bin files, try Mame or some similiar emulator.
