Tributes have poured in from around the world of cricket for the 32-year-old former South Africa captain.

Michael Vaughan is sadly missed as captain in the England Team. Andrew Flintoff is also sadly missed as England Captain. Between these two captains they have gained respect from Indian cricketers, Pakistanis, Australians, and Sri Lankans, as well as respect and love from their team- mates.

Certainly not Mother Ponting's Idiot Son. The first Australian captain to lose the Ashes in living memory, and clearly the worst of the last three (though all would agree, a fantastic batsman, who would hold his place in any side in the world).

there have been a list of captains that have been liked by his team mates over a period of time. both reasons & countries vary. examples are H.Cronje of south Africa, S.Fleming of New Zealand (his coolness in any situation & man mangement ) have helped him in his long tenure. R.Dravid is similar in that respect. his reputation as a top class batsman is undebated & his confidence has rubbed in to his captaincy.

there have been other sorts of captains like Arjuna Ranathunga. he is remembered as a napolean style leader but situatuion at the time demanded it. Sri Lankans were just finding their feet in international cricket & the Aussie sledging onslought & Murali chucking issue really tested their character. it needed a strong leader like Ranathunga to handle that situation.

so we see that different leaders are needed in different times & the men that handles the given situations best are the most loved captains. they inspire the team & the team inspires them.

i think so that a captain is lovable when he can control over his anxities and temper. players will love him who behaves properly with them. it hink so they are Hansie Cronje, Rahul Dravid, Michael Vaughan and Grane Smith.
