If the arbitrary initial values of Inflation Theory are underestimated, the universe would be much, much bigger than 28 billion light years in diameter. A more accurate question would be "When" was the beginning of the universe? About 13.7 billion years ago. There is no "end." As you look out into space you are looking back in time. If you see a quasar, for example, 12 billion light years away, that doesn't mean that the "end" of the universe is another 2 billion light years in that direction. All things in the universe can rightfully claim to be at the "center" of the universe as everything else appears to be receding away. It is a misconception to view the stuff in the universe as expanding like shrapnel from an explosion -- it is space itself that is expanding and everything in it moves along with the expansion. But that expansion includes time. When the universe came into being, time came with it. Before that, there was no time. Space wasn't "black" or "infinite" or whatever -- it simply did not exist. It's the same with the "end" of the universe - it does not exist. If you could leave our time dimension and go into an entirely different dimension, then you would be in another universe (Multiverse Theory), but that universe would also have its own version of "time." It's a pretty complicated question to answer, but there are some good books on the subject, which I will cite below.

Juan, the end of the universe is as far as you can see. If your a man that can only see 25' - well then 25' is the end of the universe. If your a man that can see 5 miles, then the end of the universe in 5 miles.. Its all a matter of perception.
A better question is - where is the beginning of the universe? Is should be right where you stand.

The universe is expanding at a rate of the Hubble constant (~50 to 100 km/s/mpc, which basically means the universe expands about 2~3 light years in one Megaparsec). This means there is no clear end to the universe.

It takes many light years to even leave our galaxy so it would efinitely take millions of years before you can even reach the end of the universe,besides the universe is ever-expanding so it might be virtually impossible to reach the end.
