I'm assuming since you rub it on and wipe off the hair after a few minutes, it disolves hair at the roots or something. Can't this be bad for your skin or can't it disolve into your blood stream or something ? I'm talking about those hair removers that you like put the lotion on and then wait 4 minutes and wipe it off?

I'm pretty sure they work by dissolving dead skin cells. Since hair is made of dead skin, it removes the hair, and it also "exfoliates" by burning off the top layer of dead skin.

The chemicals aren't usually gentle and if you leave them on for too long they can leave red marks or very mild burns on your skin, sort of like certain types of hair dye or cleaner. And, of course, as with any chemical, you could always be unlucky enough to have an allergic reaction to it, which could range from mild to severe. However, unless you use it for too long or have an allergic reaction to it, I don't think the chemicals are really harmful to your body - harsh on your skin certainly, but I don't think they can really hurt you.

It's probably poison or some other kind of harmful checmical, hence the "consult poison control immediately if swallowed" label. But I guess a lot of people do it and it's probably FDA approved so go for it if you're not prone to eating lotion.

They could if you want them to be but they are really good a good one is veet it might burn like the first time you use it but that will be because you are focus on it to make sure nothing will go wrong and the directions scare you a little bit but its not going to get into your bloody and kill you, if you take it off wrong you might get a cut and that will burn but if you have a cut and put it on it will sting but wouldn't really hurt you in any way

my friend used nair one time and it burned her, but it probably does that if you leave it on too long. other than that, i haven't heard anything bad about it.
