They tend to be people who feel they have been disappointed by people, and who have unrealistic expectations of animals. Instead of contempt they really deserve pity.

Some people tend to like pets more than humans because people are able to tell their pets their secrets and know that the pets won't tell someone else. Also pets love attention and love, and people can give as much love and attention to a pet rather than a human without being pushed away or insulted. It is not sick that humans like pets over humans, they sometimes have a better friendship with a/pet(s)

It's because pets don't talk back and are true (they don't stab you in the back). Some people feel that pets won't be judgemental about what they do and that they can confide in them without fear of rejection. Perhaps, in the past, they were repeatedly hurt in some way by a human, so they prefer the unconditional love of a pet.

People have every right to like best whatever they chose to like best. :-)

For some people, other humans represent pain and torment -- especially if they've been teased and/or abused (physically or mentally) most of their life. This may lead them to seek companionship with other non-human animals.

Pets can also bond very strongly to their owners, depending on type of animal. The bond starts with the association with food, but often develops beyond that, especially in mammals and birds. This bonding is often called "unconditional love," something rarely seen in human beings, due to their complex social landscape and conflicting interests.

Another thing that attracts many people so strongly to animals is that many of them (especially the babies) have physical characteristics that trigger the same hormonal release as when we see human infants. This rush of hormones can quickly bond us to those animals, just as it would to a human infant.

There is one more type of attraction that people feel towards animals, and sadly, it's not a positive one. Some people enjoy owning and working with animals because it allows them to dominate something that is seen by our culture as being untamed and even dangerous. It gives them a sense power and authority -- something they may not feel in their interactions with other humans.

Any human can be subject any number of these four conditions, so each case can be quite unique. As long as both the human and the animals are not suffering, these are generally healthy relationships.

there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with loving animals of any kind i.e. dogs help people in ALL sorts of disasters, like digging people out of collaspsed buildings, they helped in 2 world wars !! also help the blind and disabled and what about 9/11 what would we have done without them? MY dog kept me going through my divorce, i was so depressed, but i still had to look after him. he was so good for me. i wouldn't have wanted to go on if it wasn't for him and later he saved me from being mugged!!! . even my mums dog DIED saving a little boy!!!!! there is a LOT to be said for PETS at least THEY don't betray you like humans do!!! and anyway, like it or not animals are part of the world and nature itself, they are made of flesh and blood the SAME as humans, so there is a link to us all. all animals are magnificent and the way some so called "humans" treat others no wonder we turn to animals for unconditional love. YOU are the one that is sick, and i really feel sorry for you because YOU haven't an ounce of compassion in you for any living thing GET HELP .p.s. i'm sorry sweetheart, your not sick your WEIRD!!! i really hope you don't get in a position that you'll need help because you won't be wanting any help from an animal!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a dog and he is the most important thing in my life. I know he will not last till past 12-14 years. He is a friend, a confident and he asks for little in return for the love he gives me. Humans and I am one are mostly self centred, hypocritical and only interested in self. I am not sick i have just found a friend who will not stab me in the back or rob me. It just happens to be a dog.

Sometimes Human just don't understand others.

We love our pets more cuz we find that they needs more love as they couldn't take good care of themselves, adn we wanted to pamper it and would not hurt us like Humans do!

It depends on individual.

Maybe one day when u got a pet, U'll understand! It not only give U joy but to your family too!

Pets don't talk back, talk about you, cuss you, cheat on you, hate you, kill each other, complain, etc. A pet think you are it's whole world. The depend on you and always love & protect you. Hmmm, sounds like we should all act like them. They seem to be better than us, actually.

You'd be disappointed in us Brits then if out reputation is to be believed.

Maybe it's the companionship? The unquestioning fidelity? The almost telepathic understanding between owner and animal that can develop? Animals don't answer back, but seem to respond positively to their owner. Of course they have mood swings, but overall...

Because with pets you get undying love regardless of who you are.I think that's what we look for from people but never get.Myself included,if i don't like the look of someone on first meeting them my opinion very rarely changes.

I take it you don't have any pets.
They are loyal
They don't argue with you
They don't moan
They don't say can I have this & can I have that like kids
They are always there when you are upset
They are the best
And they don't pester you for a shag every 5 mins like you blokes.
Go get a dog you will see what I mean
