That means you need to change the battery. It is alerting you of that. Just replace the batteries and it will stop beeping.

Some beep when the battery is low. Try changing it out.

If it is wired to the electricity, and has a battery backup, it is beeping to tell you to replace the battery. If it only takes a battery, it must be haunted.

Not usually, unless it is hard wired and has some kind of issue. I would either replace it or have someone check it out.
