I want to set up a website so I can access my entire music collection over the internet.

Then I got to thinking if could share it with others, I could easily drive traffic and maybe make some money from advertising.

I realize this brings copyright laws into play...

How should I approach this and what can I expect to pay for Blanket Licenses?

PS -- thank you, but I only want to approach this legally.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* How to License Your Million Dollar Idea: Everything You Need To Know To Turn a Simple Idea into a Million Dollar Payday, 2nd Edition by Harvey Reese
* Essentials of Licensing Intellectual Property by Alexander I. Poltorak, Paul J. Lerner
* The Licensing Business Handbook, Fifth Edition by Karen Raugust

I posted some relevant copyright related links below.

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!
