Look at a country like Spain where there is no drinking age enforced. People grow up with a lot more responsible attitude towards drink than we do in the US. When the Spaniards drink it is usually always with food.

because this country was founded by a bunch of close-minded religious fanatics who thought that alcohol was "the devils potion". Passing that philosophy through generations brought a culture of intolerance and closed-mindedness. And therefore you got your 21 year old drinking age.

The drinking age around the world varies....some places have an age but don't even seriously restrict to that age. In the US....the states used to have different ages; some were 18, some were 21. The problem was that 18-year olds who lived in 21+ drinking states would drive to 18+ drinking states and then drive home in order to go to work/school the next day.......causing more drunk driving accidents because they had to drive more of a distance and couldn't just take a cab/train home if they were drunk, since they'd have to leave their car in another state. So yeah, now it's 21

Because American teeangers have far more access to cars than the teenagers of any other country.

But also because MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) is a powerful pressure group that influences alcohol policy throught the country & they are fanatics on the subject. Fanatics generally make everybody else miserable -- as witness the Middle East.

maximum do not recognize this, even if the U. S. does't actually have a criminal ingesting age it merely has a criminal purchase age. Many states have exceptions, permitting moms and dads or criminal-elderly spouses to grant alcohol to their little ones/spouses. as for something of the international, some haven't any criminal ingesting age, some a at the same time as are as a lot as twenty-5... then there are some that alcohol is thoroughly unlawful in.

So they can arrest more people for drinking underage and under the influence? its all about a business. if they increase the age to 25, which is the proper age of drinking when the liver is not vulnerable to problems, then they will arrest more people which makes cities money.

Imagine all the lost revenue to cities if they couldn't arrest all the otherwise legal adults (on and near college campuses (or is it campae?)) for underage consumption!
