How can you deny the centuries of enslavement, brutality and segregation inflicted upon African Americans by some white people? Why do some white people make it seem that African American are simply a blight upon their mighty white society as if African Americans did not play a large and important role in Americas success as well as the fact that white people have tried very hard to keep African Americans in poverty and uneducated? Is it your way of avoiding responsibility and atonement?

to all those who say my ancestors came here after slavery, do you know America encouraged your ancestors to come here to keep African Americans from achieving equality, liberty or economic freedom?

Its because many of them don't see it everyday. They don't feel the effects or have to experience the racism and prejudice today. Many feel that it doesn't exist anymore, especially younger individuals. Although, we have to take responsibility for what we do have control over, getting upset over what has happened doesn't change the future. Action changes the future, what we teach our kids and our communities changes the future. I'm not by any means downplaying the effects of the past but we must strive to move forward.

And to address this ignorant so and so, who talks about the rims and bling (GET A CLUE NOT ALL BLACK PEOPLE HAVE THAT) Just because you see it on tv or in certain places doesn't mean it is the norm. Just like others said you can't clump everyone together! Duh!!!!!

You can not clump all white people together like that. I am white, and my family had nothing to do with slavery. Half my family was in Italy, and the other half did not own slaves. In fact some of my family was involved with the civil rights movement. I dont think you can say we try to keep black people in poverty and uneducated either. I know plenty of black people who decided to work hard in school, go to college and get a job. The white people here today do not have anything to atone for, and they hold no responsibility for what occured in the past either.

I'm white, and I don't deny anything that I or my ancestors had nothing to do with, now wait a minute before you blow your lid- My ancestors came over from Ireland back in 1900,and they weren't excepted either of course not even close to the scale of slavery, but think about it before you go lumping all white people or any other peoples in one catagory- not all african american-white-american indian-asian,and so on feel the same about any one subject, case in point do you feel the same as every single african american does on any given topic?

Some older ignorant people do think this way, but now the tide is starting to change. The thing most parents need to do now is stop focusing on the past and start focusing on the future. Most young whites now know racism is wrong and so do most blacks. The parents (both black and white) who decide to continue this debate and push their misguided beliefs onto their children are only prolonging this problem and creating more racist. The items you mention here are history, but instead of learning from it and making changes some people live in it.

While we are at it we need to bomb the Japanese one more time for the crap they pulled 70 years ago. Then we the Saracens need to beat the crap out of the French Normans for what they did 1000 years ago. Then the Mexicans can take back half the U.S. that was taken from them 160 years ago. It's history, bad history, but history none the less. The only thing holding you down is the 2000 dollar rims on your Delta 88, and the big bling around your neck. You know, that thick chain tied around your neck that was put on by your own people to keep you a slave to them. The only person keeping you from being self full filled is yourself.

I do not deny it, but why not realize the Africans were the ones to start the selling of there own people. Why are only white people accused, it has been going on for years.
