I think you must like listen to Nirvana. This is a lyric from a Nirvana song off of In Utero. The problem with the comfort in being sad is that this comfort is really self-pity. Self-pity is ultimately what caused Kurt Cobaint to kill himself. I don't think you should miss the comfort in being sad. You should revel in the comfort of being happy and well-adjusted.

There is nothing comfortable in being sad. I lost my 3 1/2 year old sweet little boy...two years ago. And just a month ago my home burnt down. And still, I do my best to smile and try and look at the best side of things. I am not bitter and I certainly am not going to just sit around and feel sorry for myself. I know my little boy is safe and in Heaven...what a wonderful place to be. And if I made it through losing him....then the loss of a home and all the junk in it....is no big deal. Life is too short anyway...might as well look towards the Good Side..and shine on the Bad Side.....cause the Good Side is going to win!!

There IS a kind of comfort in being sad.

It reminds me that human beings are still capable of thoughtful emotions.

Watching the news, or reading some of the Q&A in this site's "Politics" or "Religion" sections...

...sometimes, it really makes you wonder.

It's common for people to find comfort in what they know best; some people are used to sadness so therefor find comfort in it. It can be hard to give up this "security blanket" in order to do what's best for yourself and find your own happiness.

I always find comfort in happiness...but..you know as women I think every once in a blue moon it's just flat out healthy to have a good cry. Cleans you out emotionally. I have a few good chick flicks and a chocolat bar just for that occassion.
