He should have excused himself from the room by saying Kids the President has to take care of something right now but I will read the book to you again soon. Why would little kids listing to a story about a pet goat be scared of that. That was the lamest excuse I have ever heard. When was the last time a you excused yourself from a kid and he or she was scarded for life. Can you imagine you saying to someone that the President excused himself from your class when you were 5 years old and you have never been able to get over it. PLEASE he is a lame President and everyone knows it. People need to stop coming to his rescue every time he messes something up. That's the problem his father has been bailing him out of his problems his whole life and now Americans are doing the same thing. That's why he will never grow, we are encouraging him not to do a better job.

He claimed that he didn't want to cause a panic, but he could have simply given the book back to the teacher and said, well, I'm sorry kids, but the president has to go to an important meeting now." or something like that--they'd have been confused, but not scared.

The real reason: He had no idea what to do because he had no idea anything of the sort could possibly happen under his watch. He has no original thoughts and no leadership skills-everything has always been done for him. He never really bothered with the memo a month before that warned al-qaeda was up to something. Andy Card, his chief of staff who told him about the attacks, was panicking/did not understand why the president did not just up and leave like everyone else thought he should do.

First, there was probably the need to get more info. One dosn't just start issuing orders if you don't have a clue as to the true nature of the cituation. Additionally there are people who's job it is to work on things like that. While the decision is the President's, he has qualified individuals who have the authority to deal with those cituations.

He was being kept in the know and the cituation was being dealt with by the individuals who's job it is to handle it.

Also one dosn't want to make announcements without all the facts. This would have alarmed the kids, their parents, and the world.

Because when you're expecting something to happen and it does it's not much of a surprise. Although I think he could have said that he was sorry but he had to leave, the duties of being president are demanding his attention. Besides, I've heard him read speeches that he's rehearsed, he must have been butchering "My Pet Goat"

Better question. How did a White House intern get in the Oval Office during the Government shutdown with Bill Clinton's Administration? Did you NOTICE? that Billy Bob Clinton is backing away from the support of Senator Leibowitz? Would you like to know why? Leibowitz called Clinton's actions with Monica, a "Shame to the Party."

Notice I said DURING the Government SHUTDOWN.

Ok. You got me going. Now, Let's talk about JOHN KERRY. Why DID he go to Iraq after the last election? He came back from there saying, "THEY'RE DOING A GREAT JOB in Iraq," while DURING THE ELECTION, he said,"we'll negotiate a total withdrawl of troops."

Wanna talk about Al now?

It's such an unfair question, because until you are in a similar situation, who knows what any of us would do?

Frankly, I admire that he chose to keep his cool and not upset those children. That took more courage and more leadership ability than most people have.

And when he stood up and the press was starting to ask him what was happening, he did what? He cut them off and told them, We're not going to talk about that here."

THAT behavior is the behavior of a hero and a true leader.

does it matter what book he was reading? should he have immediatly jumped up, scared all the kids and ran out of the room. What difference does it make, what he did in the first few minutes. Nothing would have changed. what are you a conspiracy theorist?? maybe the goat did it!

So as not to upset the children to whom he was reading. I was teaching myself that day, and we were told nothing about the attacks. I didn't have a clue until parents began coming to the school to take their children home. Oddly enough, EVERYONE came back the next day!
