Are you talking about Enemy Mine? That movie came out in 1985 and starred Dennis Quaid. It was exactly the premise you are asking about, except the alien (who was played by Lou Gossett Jr.) was more of a brown color. They become allies and then the alien does in fact give birth. You might want to check the title "Enemy Mine" on the website www.imdb.com, I believe you may even be able to watch the original trailer! Good Luck!
