sporting events, museums, classes, theatre openings, the swimming pool, the beach, the grocery store , anywhere people are enjoying life. When you go to pubs and clubs you see people who like to drink and get picked up....when you go to real life events you meet people with more depth and interest and hopefully healthier.

Lot of major cities have the coffee house type places where you meet new people every 10-15 minutes. Check out your town. Then you "re-interview" the person(s) you are interested in knowing more about.

Try organising a singles party - you can invite all your single friends, and ask them to bring someone of the opposite sex, and make sure there's an equal number of people...A friend of mine organised a Taboo (as in the game) party and all her single female friends had to bring a single/available male as a date and it was a lot of fun meeting different people.
Hang out at the bookstore, go for wine and cheese nights, go to art gallery openings, ask your friends to introduce their friends to you.
I was getting to a stage where I thought there was no way I was gonna meet anyone nice, and lo and behold, one of my course mates (I'm studying part-time) invited me to her party, and I met a great bunch of people, and also met a really nice guy!
Most importantly, always keep an open mind. Tell yourself that you want to meet new people, and not 'the one', and expect to have fun!

Do things you like to do, and funny thing is, other people will be there doing them too! What ever those things are that make you smile and are in a social setting. Beaches, pools, social clubs, where ever people gather to have fun. You will meet people, and then meet “someone”

This is a really good question that I'm kinda struggling with myself. Sometimes it's best just to meet people through friends....that's how I've met most new people. I don't really know a good place though.

I suggest you ask your friends/family/co-workers/ neighbors if they know of anyone who is single. That is how I met my lover. These close people will not(usually), set you up with losers or someone that will hurt you. It's like your personal screening system. If this doesn't work, I suggest looking into your community activities, sports, parties, groups, clubs...etc.
goodluck on finding your true love, or whatever you are looking for!!

you can meet new people anywhere you go...like u can go to a friends party and meet the people u've never met or u can go to the mall... you can basically meet people everywhere, you just can't be shy about it, just go up to them and introduce yourself and start talking. but remember first impressions last a lifetime.
