Does buying American really matter anymore since Japanese and European car companies employ American labor in American factories?

Yes it matters.

The profits stay in the USA. Additional sales of US cars means increased employment in those companies so that money stays here too.

Heard of the federal trade deficit? When you buy foreign cars, you are a part of the problem.

Those with poor manners will say "screw them, buy what you want". When they loose their job because of it, should we all not care about those Americans? No, we should care about all Americans. Buy products from the country in which you live. Your own job WILL depend on it.

Be a part of the solution for the USA. Support your country with the vote that matters most, your purchases.

As much as I am pro American made, if the best car with the best safety record/gas mileage/etc. is not American-made, I'm still going to buy it.

So many American countries are outsourcing their labor, that it's hard to tell where anything is actually being made anymore.

I don't beleive so.

I work in a dealership and many of our domestic cars are made in Canada and mexico while our foreign are primarily built in the US.

Something else to think about;
No matter what you buy, as long as you purchase a vehicle in the US you are helping the local economy of where the dealership is located.

Sure...and while we're at it we can trade in our computers for typewriters and our calculators for abacus'. Why should we buy an inferior American car when the good japanese cars cost even less!! It's lazy America's fault our auto industry sucks.

You should buy the car that makes the most economical and, preferably, ecological sense for you. Most American cars are at least partially made overseas, and vice-versa. Most car companies are multi-nation conglomerates, so don't worry who you are buying from.
