I was offered a position before I graduated. It's important to start networking and job searching during your last semester or two.

I know lots of college graduates working crappy minimum wage jobs waiting to get hired in their profession.

Class of 2006 and still unemployed. Well, I did return to my lowly job at the movie theater. The plan was to find a job in NYC, and I did 4 or 5 interviews within the month of June. However, the answer was always no and the job market slowed down. I'm hopeful that I'll find something now that the next recruiting season has begun.

Class of 2004 - I got a job offer the weekend after graduation. Most of my friends either had jobs when they graduated or moved somewhere and found one once they got there within 4 months. They basically used their summer after their senior year to look around and find one.

I was lucky and was offered a job before I graduated. Not the best job in the world but it was in my field.

My friends all found jobs either before graduation or within 3-4 months or so of graduating. (I graduated class of 2003).

Full time or just a job period?

After I graduated college, it took me a month to get a job (worked as a lifeguard). After lifeguarding, I worked for a temp agency where I worked a couple of jobs here and there. It wasn't until probably after 9 months that I was able to land a full-time job.

If you get a social work degree, you'll find a job lickity-split. I have my masters, and I started my job the Monday after Friday's graduation.
