Being alone forever, absent of light and warm, unable to breath yet incapable of dying. Being numb, unseeing and unknowing. Hell is the vast darkness, the endless realm of shadow unfilled by the radiant love of either God or man. You are alone, utterly and irrevocably alone.
You cannot fall into the fitful embrace of sleep because time is meaningless. A second passes in an hour and an hour is an eternity to blind eyes. All you can is the sound of a pitiable and anguished scream, which your mind cannot comprehend until, suddenly, you realize that the screaming is your own.

According to Vedic wisdom, hell is never eternal. Within the material manifestation, there are hellish planets as well as heavenly planets. Then there are planets like this earth planet which harbor a little of each (although lately it seems it's mostly hellish). Heaven isn't eternal, either. All our actions, good or bad, have reactions. And we suffer or enjoy those reactions at an undetermined date in our future...either here on earth or on a hellish or heavenly planet. Then we return to a "middle" planet and will be given another chance to use our human life and human intellect to understand why we're here, who we are, who or what God is, and so on. You could say that ignorance is hell. For it leaves us in darkness, and fear, and insecurity, with no real love or peace within our hearts. I suppose it could be nice for a brief amount of time, but it will catch up with us.

Depends on how you sincerely believe in hell. Human mind has capacity to restore ideas and concept as to what he will experience when he dies. If you believe in heaven and hell the way it was taught by the religions then you will experience it until reality sets in. I think you have to grew a little smarter than that.
Those two states of mind were invented to control our individual freedom. In some ways it helped a lot to live a good life for many; but In many ways we develop our fears so as to stagnate us from evolving to higher level of our spirituality.
When you die and many would wish you must not because they thought of you as good person then that feeling is heaven.
When you die and many would be thankful for it because you gave them hardtime then that could be hell.

The older I get, the more I'm convinced that our human minds have created a Hell, (much like our Heaven) that we can understand- a concept we can grasp. I don't think we can really imagine how horrible a place Hell will be- huge bugs crawling and gnawing, giant vermin, endless torture with no relief, terrible, terrible things that go far beyond a guilty concience and a roasting fork.

I don't know why most people thiink of eternal fire. I think it would be dark, damp, cold, and smell of death. Spiders will drop from above, and snakes will slither through the cracks in the grey-black wet stone. You can feel their scaly bodies as they twist around your neck and down your legs. You will hear the moans of those who expected to make it to heaven but did not. You will be chained to the walls of the cave-like dungeon. You will be always filled with a feeling of doom.

Hell will be like a furnace that you are stuck in for eternity with no escape. You will be burning and all the angels above you will be l;looking down on you and laughing because they aren't in that hellhole that you are stuck in. Your loved ones will be looking at you and be ashamed of you because you are down there.
