first off, as a teacher, I have to say "There is no such thing as a dumb question." Second, there are many reasons people ask dumb questions. The most obvious reason is for attention. From there, sometimes people don't think before they ask. And even sometimes people just want to change the subject, so they'll say the first thing that comes to their mind to change the subject. Don't be hard on them...we've all asked dumb questions before...

I know what you mean, like when a teacher says that to a student....because the student did not READ the notes or book passages he/she was suppossed to read..... BUT hear this, some may consider no question DUMB, they look at it as : "it's all in the way you answer it"... that's the thing I think some people should do a little more THINKing on (the answer)

It is most likely 1 of 3 things:
1.) They are not being taught the right way.
2.) They are dumb.
3.) They are a Liberal (also see #2)
