That really depends on where you live and the state's minimum wage requirement.

In Texas, for example, minimum wage is in line with federal guidelines. Its very low. Retail jobs range between about $5.50-$7.00 per hour.

In Oregon, the same jobs would start in the $6.50+ range. That's because Oregon's minimum wage law is a higher standard than the federal limit.

So, it really depends on where you live.

6.75- 10.

Depends. Cashier/Stocker. If the retailer does overnighter stockers. If you are looking for a bath and beyond small mall store, you'll get less than 9.

Retail jobs really don't pay well, even worse is that a lot of them play the hourly game and have you lose your nights and weekends.

Target starts pays 7-8 for cashiers, 9-10 for overnite stockers.
Starting pay at Big Lots is 6.75.
7-8 at the grocery store. Cub Foods, Hy-Vee.
6.50-7.50 for our local gas stations. Super America, Kwik Trip and Casey's.

Typically some of this fluctates, but this was the feedback i got when I threw out random apps to everywhere. Location here is Rochester, MN.

It may be minimum wage or a little over minimum wage. An entry level job most likely wouldn't start over $7-$9/hour approximately.

depends on the cost of living in your area. Some will pay more than minimum wage, but like the other person before me 6.25 sounds about right.

Don't go to retail. Most don't pay commission and you have to work hard as hell for pay that a janitor would laugh at.
