look behind your computer for a section that has 3 or more circular holes in it that are color coded
the green is usually for speakers
if there are no colors sometimes they have small icons etched in the metal
if you still cant tell you wont do any harm to anything by trying all the holes until you hear something
i would open an mp3 file let it play and try all the holes
make sure you have the speakers plugged in and turned on
and one of them will work

My speakers plug into the back of my computer, there are several color-coded circular slots for me, but I have a pretty old computer, don't know if it'll have the same setup. If the plug is rectangular and has a picture of a branching apart cable it would be a USB plug, which you can just plug into the little matching rectangular slots on either the front or back of your CPU.

In the back of the computer there are usually 3 little plugs in a row, the green one is usually the one for speakers.

If you have no holes in the back for your speakers I would then check the front of your pc and see if you have a headphone jack. If you dont it would seem as if you had no soundcard. You should definitly get one. You can find some good products at good prices at http://www.tigerdirect.com. I hope this helps you out
