I have now taken my computer to Best Buy for warranty work 4 times now and every single time they never find anything wrong. It's always been the same problem. I can be playing games, working on a document or even simple web browsing and my PC will power off! When I took the PC to Best Buy (for the SAME prob) I was without a computer for over 30 days and when I got it back they reformatted the disk and didn't bother to back up my data! Guess what? I still have the SAME prob! My PC kept shutting off last night!

Im sure I have a lemon yet even after 4 trips Best Buy refuses to get me a new PC even though I purchased the ext warranty (what a joke). So with this in mind, instead of bringing back my PC for the SAME problem can someone please tell my how to successfully kill the PC without yanking parts &/or zapping it?

This isnt a question to troubleshoot my PC. I am way beyond this. I want to give Best Buy a big F U and tell them to shove their precious ext warranty up their cornhole

FYI, the only reason I want to kill my PC now is so I can get a new computer. I don't care to have my PC serviced and now that I only have 3 months of warranty left I'm getting really nervous. I already know what will happen if I send in my PC w/ the current prob I have. This is a desktop not a laptop.

I DO NOT want to service my computer. I just want to kill it and be done w/ it. Hopefully this time best buy will honor their warranty (I'm sure they're sick of seeing me in their store) and give credit towards a new desktop. Thank you for the kind suggestions but seriously, I just want to get rid of this damn thing.

I killed my laptop by putting in a memory module with the battery still in it, and not putting it in correctly the first time.

Presto-chango... fried motherboard.

Not sure it will help you, but I thought I'd relate my story. Plus, your question tells me to stay away from laptops from Best Buy.

I think I know this problem... at least it sounds similar to what I faced with my HP Laptop (yes, bought from Best Buy)... it would just poof... power off... seemingly without any reason. Is your's an HP too?

Apparently the RAM was heating up too much and eventually it died out (one of the RAM modules was dead). Took me a while to figure out... but once I replaced the faulty (which was now dead) RAM... I never saw that problem again.

I know you said you were beyond repairing the computer, but you might want to try a differnent repair source. Best Buy is not always the most reliable source. Some of your problem might be the computer's internal powersource. Check the phonebook, you should be able to find someone qualified to work on the computer.

I know that this isn't a troubleshooting thread and you don't want any ideas, but try changing out your power supply. Take your PC to BEST BUY and tell them to put in a new power supply. If those filthy bastards on the Geek Squad say no, F them. I hate Best Buy and I hate their Geek Squad. Most of the trouble shooting I do myself and I never buy anything from Best Buy, atleast not anymore since they screwed me over on my PS2. Write a letter to their Head Quarters, in Minnisota, and tell them that the service that they have sucks @$$.

take it to court. that warranty is a legal binding contract that they must uphold.

or if you really want find a nice big ground level transformer (like by a school or business) turn on your laptop and set it up there until the battery dies - that should screw something up with that large of a power field
