will people think i'm not well educated or rude?

On personal emails to people who know you well, they probably won't think anything of it, but if your emails are work-related, to co-workers or supervisors, or school related, to professors or administrators, a couple might think you're careless.

Yes. It is a bad thing. People will think that you are ultimately lazy and will not perform well "on the job". If they do not know about your education, they may indeed think that you are poorly educated. My impression of people who send me e-mail and do not abide by basic rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation, is that they are lazy. After working in HR for over 5 years, I can tell you that if you sent me an inquiry about a position, I would not hire you based on the way you composed your e-mail message.

depends on who you are writing to... normally when i am writing emails to my friends i never use correct grammar or spelling because i dont care. when i am writing emails at work... i am very professional and make sure that i am doing everything correctly... i think that is the only time i need to sound educated. my friends already know that i have graduated from college.

It depends on the recipient. Among friends it's fine, but among colleagues and teachers it shouldn't be.
