I want to use my palm lifedrive as an mp3 player but have an ipod connection interface with controls to my car stereo and want to know if I can get an ipod simulator application so I can control it as if it were an ipod in my car.

Nope. There are no devices that I know of like that. The only existing devices that I know of are cassette adapters, fm adapters, bluetooth adapters, and audio cables (if your deck has MP3 or auxillary audio in).

Alpine is coming out with a device called the KCA-620M adapter that works with their "head-units" that will allow remote control of a PlaysForSure compatible music player such as the Creative Zen Vision M via a USB cable. I'm chomping at the bit to get this when it arrives.

I have a Treo 650 which uses Pocket-Tunes for music. When the KCA-620M comes out and if I upgrade my car stereo with a new alpine, I can try that arrangement to see if the unit will control a PalmOS device running Pocket-Tunes. But I have a feeling your question will expire long before Alpine ships the device. (It was due out back in April of 2006).

If you have an FM transmitter in your car, you can simply connect it to the LifeDrive, and listen to songs in the car, just like you would with an iPod or any other MP3 player. It's that easy!
