Make sure thta the garbage is closed, the dishwasheris closed and there are no spilled foods under the counter.
Sometimes they can come out of the sink, trust me this happened to me! put the plug in the sink, fill up the sink with the hottest water you can, mix in some soap or CLR or mister plumber of something, then let the plug go. This fatal mix will drown them out, eggs, larvae, pupae and adults. Aftre I did this, they never came back, sometimes things get caught in the pipes that they like, and they will grow on it.
Sticky fly paper also works, so you can give that a try if the problem persists.
One cool trap I made for them is to take an ordiary mason jar, and a funnel. Tape the funnel to the top of the mason jar, so that the tip is inside the jar. Before you do this add a slice of apple into the jar, as bait. Teh little critters will fly in, and will not be able to fly out, they arent intelligent enough to figure out funnels yet! haha, then you can dispose of them which ever way you see fit.

Good luck, what am I saying you wont need it!

hope that answers your question!

Remove all food sources and then use a 'bomb' when the office is empty for a long period. An insect bomb is a can of chemicals that has a locking mechanism to keep the spray running while you exit the room. They are quite choking so make sure you follow the directions.

Remember to clean sink and floor drains with a bleach solution before you leave for the night.

In a pinch, a fly spray can be used in the room prior to food prep. Give the spray time to dissipate and make sure that all surfaces are wiped clean before food touches them.

Fruit flys breed in rotting fruit in nature. In your office, they are probably breeding in the empty cans of soda because the sugar is similar to that found in fruits.

You might also look in the trash cans, especially under the liners. If something gets spilled there it can create a breeding source.

You can make a quick trap by using a paper cup and filling it half way with apple cider vinager. They will get traped by the thousands there.

to get rid of them put a banana peel inside a ziplock bag and leave it unzipped. Let the peel get nice and brown (2-4 days) the flies will gather there, breed there and won't leave their ideal source of substenance. After the 4 days, youll see they're all there... zip the bag up and throw it in the garbage

Your work should call an exterminator! Pour bleach or dishsoap down the sink, run the garbage disposal, wash out the garbage cans, see if there is any food in corners under the fridge and such, wash out the refrigerator, throwing away anything that is in there, warn the other employess.

Put a piece of Saran Wrap over the top of a glass jar with about one half (1/2) inch of apple juice in it. Punch a couple of holes in the Saran Wrap. The fies will go through the holes and will die in the apple juice. This worked for me.

Do you have a coffee machine and leave the filters with spent coffee grounds in a trash can? Fruit fly would reproduce and consume that. Get rid of all spent filters and put them outside.

Don't leave any food out, wipe clean the "hard to reach" places like corners, recesses, behind the heavy furnitures etc., keep the garbage cans closed and use a vacuum cleaner to suck the insect. it works well as they are tiny insects.

Little buggers don't need much to thrive -- although they only live for minutes or hours. But they lay eggs... Clean everything. Get one of the insect "bombs" -- set it off as everyoe leaves for the day -- say Friday -- that ought to do it. ;-)
