It's sad to say, but she needs to see a professional. NOW.

Depression, and alcohol abuse and addiction can go hand in hand. When going through Chemo, you must always be faithful, and keep your spirits up! It is important that she sees a professional, so she is convinced that she MUST stop drinking. It could shorten her life.

(I know what you're going through, my aunt has problems with alcohol)

The best thing to do in your situation is pray. I don't know if you are into all of this kind of stuff but I know that it does work. If you could just say a pray and believe that everything is going to be okay for your mother it will work. Believe me that it will work I just said a prayer for her also. Try it out!!

Can her doctor admit her for alcohol detox? That would be my first step. She needs to be medically supervised while she gets dry. Call her doctor.

Second, after she gets the alcohol out of her system, she needs to go to AA meetings. Call her local area AA intergroup for meeting locations. Here's a list to find her area: http://www.aa.org/en_find_meeting.cfm

For you.....maybe you should try Al-Anon. It is for people who have loved ones who are alcoholics. It would be good for you to talk to others who have been through this with moms, dads, etc.

Good luck to you both.

She needs counselling. There are so many voluntary organisations helping such people in encouraging to stop intake of alcohol. Sooner she stops drinking, better would be for her health.

I am sorry, you approached your doctor late, had it been diagnosed Early, excision would have cured her, now when she is under chemotherapy prognosis is not good, let her do it in her own way, at least she will be happy then.
May God help her. Take me seriously ,don't think I am depressing or abusing you in any way. My sympathy is all the way with you, Please forgive me.
