I'd have to put it in this order
Bill Russell - Always had defensive minded teamates, and defense wins championships
.
Wilt Chamberlain - Did so much to change the game. If only he had better defensive teamates, and his coaches knew how to allow him to do his thing.
Kareem (Lew Alcindor) Abdul Jabbar - Fit in well wherever he was at. I wish he would go and work with Shaq, and convince him to take the Rick Barry approach.
Shaquille O'Neal - Who plays "Who's sorry now?' on his DVD player in honor of "The Crybaby" Kobe Bryant. He has been so good over his career that he will definitely move into 1st place when he retires. never has a center done so much with so little to work with. Except for Clifford Ray who toiled @ GOLDEN STATE suffering. Now Shaq has never been less than a great team leader, and will always accept responsibility when he is not doing what he should to make his team better. He and D Wade have so much fun on the court, and that is what it is about.
AS FOR HIS FREE THROWS - He fell out of a tree when he was a kid (being Spiderman) and broke both of his arms, so he may have to modify his shot to be more consistent. The Rick Barry style may look funny, but it could work for him. I know he takes great pains in working on his FT shot. He is not tanking it, so give him a break!!!

Kareem Abdul Jabber. Had 5 Championship rings. Made the Lakers what it is today. Carried the Lakers team. And Also played well with Magic Johnson. Both of them combined to win 5 Championship rings. And also beat the Mighty Boston Celtics (Larry Bird).
Shaq: We can also say Shaq is one of the best Centers of all times with Four Rings. And also appeared in the ALL-STAR game 13 times. Carried three teams the Lakers, Magic and the Heats to the Championship. And as also been in the NBA Championship 6 times. He has made players around him such as KOBE and WADE better and more popular. And is also the Big man of the NBA today. But he can hardly make free throws.

the greatest center (and possibly the best player) in the history of basketball is Bill Russel from the Boston Celtics. He won 5 MVPs, and 11 NBA championships which is a record for players that no one is close to. He would also have the record for most blocks ever if that stat had been recorded then. He also won the NCAA championship with a bad team, San Fransisco Dons.

this question should not even be asked. Bill Russell is the greatest player to ever play the game. he played against a wilt and won every time. wilt used to be scared of russell. imagine living during the 60s and being a basketball fan. 8 straight years the celtics won a championship. that's crazy. i am sure after 4 straight championships everybody knew who was going to win the year after. he was a flat out winner. he has 11 titles in 13 years in the NBA. he has 2 NCAA championships. he has an Olympic gold metal. he won in high school. he is the only person in the history of the planet to win a NCAA championship a gold medal and an NBA title all in 1 year. he was the greatest simply cause the goal of any game is to win

Many say wilt, may say kareem abdul jabar, others say Shaq...But truly the greatest center of all time must be Akeem "the dream" Olejewon (spelling). This guy has moves that couldn't be replicated. He has two championships under his belt but his teams were not the quality of wilts, kareems, and shaqs; he was truly a one man wrecking crew...:D
Good luck!!!

It's Wilt.
Russell and Kareem were incredible too.
Russell not only won 11 rings (in a 13 year career) but his teams were 10-0 in game sevens (you listening, Michael?)
