It's not just teens. I've seen adults post nasty questions and it's hard to get real advice on here - there are some people who actually try to answer these questions, but most people don't.

FYI - I usually don't report people unless someone is threatening me. I just see it as a waste of time you guys.

Not only you but there are many like me who have suffered from this question which is really a confusing one. I myself have tried several times to solve the mystery or psychology behind this behaviour and I came to the conclusion that it is dirty mind only. Forget about teenagers for which we can easily say that its not they but its their age group that compels them to behave in that manner only. But what is painful is the attitude of seniors who have developed a nasty kind of habit of flushing mud with their low level language in several nice topics. Its aghast sometimes to witness the level of answers to serious questions. Some questions were really too personal and private but the answerer were making fun of them. But still thank God...there are quite a number of nice and serious fellows around here who are making their best to take this platform to such a grand level that people like you and me are grateful to them that we still believe the world is really going great.

So, in short...its better way to ignore those filthy and dirty minded ones and no need to report abuse about them, because once you do, next morning they will return to yahoo with another ID... its as simple as cracking a finger to them. Let them have their own bread and butter.....and let others who do wish to look this platform as one of the best spot to make the culture in wonderful way.

I think they think they are being amusing. There are a lot of rude answers too such as the old "who cares?" or "get a life" cracks, which I think is a stupid thing to say considering they bothered to answer the question. Do they not realise that people have said the same things a thousand times before?

Boredom, a desire for attention, shock value, stupidity, ignorance, and the list could go on.

If people would just ignore such questions (report them if desired, but not respond) instead of responding in any way, even to say how disgusting or disturbing they are or that they reported the person, we'd see a lot less of those questions...

...getting any attention at all, just tends to encourage the poster to continue their activity...but many folks can't seem to resist commenting...

i guess some are bored, some want to incite a reaction, get people's goads, etc. I try to honestly answer questions that are
genuinely posed and not merely "silly." Some adults are still a teenagers mentally and they don't have real questions to ask, I guess...

Boredoom, basically. Aside from that, this site, with its annonimity, gives people an opportunity to behave in ways they wouldn't normally behave, because there is no real consequence, so they can shock and offend without a single care.

It is frustrating. People are immoral and disgusting, add the anonymity that this site provides and you've got a corrupt little world on your hands. Be careful of categorizing your question. That seems to help a little.

They feel that the anonymity of the internet makes it OK to say almost anything that comes to mind, without considering who is in the audience.

They're using the service to vent their repressed anger, often about stuff that has nothing to do with the question itself.

They have too much time on their hands. Just ignore them and weed through the answers you get.
