What exactly is mineral oil? Is it safe to put in my ear to losen up wax?

Mineral oil is a petroleum product. Occasional use to soften up ear wax probably won't hurt anything. Perhaps a better alternative is olive oil, a more natural product that has been safely used for thousands of years. Also, if this is a persistant or serious problem, try ear candles, available at your natural foods store, to remove excess ear wax.

Try ear candles they do wonders. Just be very careful and have a bowl of water nearby.

I have heard mineral oil causes premature aging, but I guess that doesn't matter if you aren't going to be putting it on your face.
