They used to taste children to see if they tasted salty as a "test" for cystic fibrosis. They don't do that anymore because, even kids do sometimes sweat enough to be salty. I've read that they used to check if you were spilling sugar in your urine by tasting it too. If it was sweet, you were spilling sugar. blah.

It usually means that you're dirty or sweaty, or you just finished sweating. Your skin DOES have a bit of a salty taste normally. It's nothing to worry about!

When you sweat, you sweat out fluids and salts from your body. That is why your skin tastes salty when it's hot and you've been sweating. It is normal. Make sure you are taking in plenty of fluids in the hot weather so that you don't get dehydrated.
