Food poisening, best bit was i worked in a restaurant and we'd been in the night before for a meal! They felt so bad they gave me a week off with full pay! Neglected to tell them i went to town after and got rat arsed and was to hung over to work!!!!

I said that I had locked myself in the house and then couldn't find my key so I couldn't come to work as I couldn't get out of the house and was waiting for a locksmith but seen as it was a sunday it was gonna take me ages to actually get hold of one.
My manager totally beleived me cos he said he couldn't imagine someone admitting to being sooo dumb if it weren't actually true.

i told my boss that i had dyed my hair, had a reaction to the dye which resulted in a blistered scalp and after a trip to A&E was told to keep my scalp damp for 24hrs which meant i couldnt go to work. This was actually true but i dont think they believed me!!

oh **** i will burn in hell for this.years ago i said my dad had died.was awful when people kept being nice to me.sounds bad but at the time i was being controlled by a violent partner and had to do it

A colleague of mine (no, not me...honest!) who obviously had memory problems raised suspicion with our HR department after the 3rd time he handed in a sick note with 'Vasectomy' as the reason....I kid you not - this actually happened.
.....having said that I have no idea why HR didnt pick him up on it after the 2nd time!
