You need a degree in Finance preferably. Then you need to find a firm to sponsor you. They will sign you up for Series 7 and Series 63 blitz classes. Then all you need to do is pass the exam. Stock brokering is consuming. You are constantly selling even at social events.

Be careful what you wish for.

A broker is usually a stepping stone to something else, and is little more than a clerk job; taking orders, and following the perogative of the brokerage company, rather than your own initiative. It is one of the lowest positions in the finance industry. A broker is not a trader, although they do trade.

Excluding TV and dramatization, it's really not a very glamorous job, unless you happen to like "cold calls" and high pressure sales.

There are always exceptions, but how many brokers have you ever wanted to talk to?

With technology and information dissemination, the industry has changed, thus the downsizing of several large brokerages and the ousting of brokers. There will always be a need for hand-holding, but just not as many.

Preferably finance, accounting or economics however, to get "up there," in the business you need to be an excellent sales person. If you can sell umbrellas in the Sahara, you are perfect for the job.
