First, state your political affiliation. If indepedant say where you feel more leaning towards

Next state if you think the media has a bias, and if so in what direction. I don't mean one media company.. I mean all of American media in general.

Lastly, do you believe, if there is a bias, that we should remove the bias and if so how would we do so?

Pre-first, I'd like to state my prediction that most people will say it is, in the opposite direction from their own views (some will call it neutral -- no one will claim it's biased in their direction).

I'm far left-wing.

I think media are biased toward the right, toward big business and the Republican Party.

The only thing to be done is seek other forms of news-getting. I see no way to "remove" bias. (What would be ideal, of course, would be that each bit of media included a wide variety of viewpoints, so people would have exposure to all and could decide for themselves what to believe.)

Consttutionalist I'm far left on some issuesand extreme right on others.
The proof in a journalists education. Journalists are not trained to be non-biased. They are taught to right in an editorialized fashion. Two separate journalist can cover the same story and provoke a separate reaction. Hence the pen truly is mightier than the sword.
Traditionally CBS,ABC,and NBC covered stories objectively but leaned slightly to the left until Ronald Regan's second term. The CEO's of these networks started to allow more of a leftist viewpoint of coverage of stories. With the creation of FOX news CNN,and MSNBC the stakes got higher.Talk radio became a factor with Rush Limbaugh. The masses started watching whichever channel best expressed there views. This caused the 2 parties to try and distance themselves from each other so they could retain their political base. With media such as ours covering in this fashion has divided this nation in such a way that hasn't been seen since the civil war............Good Question

1. Republican, but I vote based on the "sleezy factor" and consider environmental issues to be very important.
2. Yes, liberal
3. Yes. Unfortunately, this would be very difficult because journalists and journalist-minded individuals (aka liberals) "control" the media. They decide how they are going to portray the news. In order to change this liberal slant, more conservatives would have to enter the field. I guess we (the public) could also all demand more objective news broadcasting and refuse to watch news that is too leftist. Many people feel Fox is fairly conservative, so if everybody started watching Fox, maybe the other networks would change their slant a little. Of course though, only half the population is conservative-the other half will always be fighting against that, and the industry will remain at the status-quo.

Sorry, one more thing. John Stossel is my hero. You should read his books sometime.

1. Generally a leftist (anarcho-syndicalist), but not on all issues, assuming the American Democratic party is the standard of comparison.

2. The media is biased in favor of the corporate structure - after all, they're all corporations.

3. Democracy in the media. Media companies should be democratically run by their employees, instead of having decisions on which stories to run and what spin to put on them be handed down from above by the corporate honchos.
