You'd be best off getting a package deal. Depending on your area. Some companies do bundles; phone, broadband and digital TV for about £30 a month. I was paying £20-£25 a month for the internet alone before.

I don't have a phone line in the area where my PC is either. I use a broadband connection through the cable company. It's a bit costly, but I think it's well worth it because of the speed, clarity & constant connection...it's smokin' fast & reliable! I go through a router for a wireless connection because I was told by a tech friend that it is more secure--be sure u have a good security software suite like Zone Alarm.

What about NTL? I think you can opt just for broadband cable internet, you don't need to subscribe to the TV package.
