The only person who should be making dilation decisions is your doctor, though it certainly wouldn't hurt to ask them about it.

I would not panic... Your doctor knows what (s)he is doing. If they feel that the baby is ready to come out, (they would know this by the size) they might induce... but don't be surprised if they want to wait until 42 weeks to induce. the 40 week mark is just an estimate... it could be anywhere from 37 - 42 weeks, and as long as you and the baby are doing fine there is no need to induce before 42 weeks...

It would not hurt to bring the idea up to the doctor, and see what there response is.

A due date is just an educated guess based upon your last menstrual cycle. It's normal for people to have their babies two weeks either "early" or "late". If there is a concern, your doctor would know. I was ten days over my due date for my first, 2 weeks early for my 2nd, and three days early for my last.
Talk to your doc and ask about inducing. Usually, if the baby is healthy and there are no health issues, they will induce at 39 weeks. Most will induce if you go past 2 weeks of your due date.

Normally the doc won''t induce until you are 40 weeks, sometimes 42 weeks, or if you are really big. I would wait. Your doc knows what to do. I'm sure you want that baby out, but it will be ok if the baby is in you alittle longer. You could dialate tomarrow. Take alot of walks, that helps. Have sex with your husband. !

The best way to know is to ask your doctor. Unless you have a midwife or alternative doctor..they usually will contact you to induce you. You're not even 40 weeks yet and most doctors wait 2 weeks after your due date before they induce you.

I know pregnancy can be uncomfortable, but you have been wanting to do this since you were 34 weeks. The baby is better inside than outside until around 40 weeks. You are close, but you aren't late, so why mess with Mother Nature? Your doc will let you know at the next visit, I bet.

at this point, you're probably having weekly pre-natal exams. and don't be impatient. it is best that the baby comes out when the baby is ready. you could go 42 weeks before you should be worried. 40 weeks is the accepted AVERAGE gestation period.

inducing labor increases the chance that you will have to have a c-section. a c-section is an OPERATION and there is more risk to your health than a vaginal delivery, so continue to research all your options!

No, you shouldn't ask to be induced unless there is a problem. You just aren't ready yet. No worries, if you don't dilate, your doctor can give you a c-section so fast.

Plus being induced isn't a guarantee you'll dilate.

gestation is 40 weeks its okay some people are often late especially if you found out about your pregnacy when you were more than 4 months ............ I would talk to your doctor about setting up a planned induction its easier plus he might suggest it if you havnt dialated by next week.
