That is a choice you need to make. You can always go in prepared for a natural child birth but don't rule out medication if you need it. Demerol can be given at any time through an IV, if you want an epidural you have to do it within a certain time frame( I can't remember when though). I have two girls which I had epidurals for both.I am due with my third daughter in 4 weeks and I will probably have an epidural with her as well. The epidurals I had were low doses which I could still feel pressure and know when to push. Some doctors even have it to where you control the dosage of the medication. There are so many options, talk them over with your doctor.

I was going to try a natural birth, but when the contractions started coming, I wanted the pain medication in my I.V. And then 5 minutes later the pain hurt so bad that I wanted an epideral. I got the epideral and actually took a nap. It's the greatest. You can try to go without drugs, but be aware, doctors won't give you pain medication when you are so many centimeters dialated. Because the pain medication won't ware off in time for you to push. I do know that you can have an epideral at 4 centimeters. Some women can do it natural and some have no choice doing it natural because they decided too late to get the medication. It's your decision. I'd say you are brave if you can do it natural. I never will. Besides my next child was a c-section and i'd rather do it by c-section now if I had a choice. Call me crazy! Good luck!

Go in with the idea of having a natural birth. If you can't take the pain, than get an epidural. You don't have to be superwoman and no one is judging you. Do not ask for a c-section unless you need it. They are more of a risk. It is a major surgery. I had a vaginal birth and loved the fact that I could hold, feed, and have an unbroken connection with my son for as long as I wanted. My friends who have had c-sections hated that part. They could only see the baby for a short time and couldn't even hold them. Either way, I am sure you are going to make the best decision for you and your family. Best wishes!

If the Caesarean is not needed for medical reasons, don't do it; take an epidural or something. That way you will not feel pain, you'll be awake AND you will not have a scar over your abdomen, which will need a plastic surgery intervention if you don't want to carry it for the rest of your life. Also, a Caesarean exclude next pregnancy for some time (until a proper scar tissue forms, which can take quite a long time).
Remember, if everything is OK from a medical aspect (you're healthy, the baby inside you is doing fine), there's not a reason on this Earth for not letting the nature taking its course - with a little help of our friendly anesthetics :-)))

I just asked a question similar to this and I have decided, based on my answers and my own feelings, to give birth naturally. After all, this is what God has designed us to do. He never intended for us to have epidurals and medicines to alleviate the pain.
As far as a c-section... you should only do it in case of an emergency. There is a higher chance your child could get RSV because the fluid was not squeezed out of the baby's lungs like it would have been with a vaginal birth.
I think you should go for natural child birth. I hear you have plenty of time to change your mind if you need an epidural. I think I am going to go with nothing or maybe if the pain gets to bad... just Tylenol. Best wishes and good luck.

A natural birth is by far the safest and most reliable way of giving birth to children. Your recovery time is alot shorter and you can resume your activities within a reasonable amount of time. Ceasaren sections however are concidered a major surgery and are nothing to be taken lightly. The baby could be affected by the anesthetic and complictations with you can arise. But the procedure is safer than it was 30 years ago.
There are benefits and cons to both ways of delivering. If you are worried about "stretching" down south fear not. You will regain most of your prior elasticity approx 6 weeks after delivery. Kegals are also a god send.
Which ever your choice good luck and a safe delivery.

Depends on your threshold of pain. If you have a high tolerance, then take as much as you can, but have the epidural and/or drug option in case it gets too unbearable. Don't be a pioneer woman when don't have to. Besides, every woman has their own birthing story and you will too soon enough. Those other moms can't judge for you because they won't be in the delivery room so don't let them scare you.
You can request a c-section, but why do it if it's not necessary.

I think if you want to try it natural you should, you don't wanna look back and wish you'd at least tried. I didn't want to have mine natural, I choose an epidural, it was great, could feel no pain. I ended up in labor for 2 days and had to have a C-section. I was up and walking the next day, with some pain, mind you. Eithor way you go, ultimately it will be your decision, and don't let anyone bully you into doiing or not doing something. Good Luck!!!!

A C-section is surgery. There are a whole list of complications, much longer recovery time, scars...not something I'd recommend as an elective. If there is a medical need for a c-section then get one. But don't get one because you think it will be easier for you.
Women are so freaked out anymore about natural they forget that it's just that-natural. It can be the most wonderful, powerful and fulfilling experiences you've ever had. Why deny yourself such an beautiful experience because you are afraid it will be painful? Embrace it for what it is and you won't be so afraid of it.

I have only had a natural birth with an epidural with my daughter, and I didn't feel a thing. I had absolutely no pain, but I know I was lucky. Most people tell me awful stories of how painful and long their labor was. Some chose no drugs, and others chose drugs. It depends on your doctor and your drug tolerance. You don't get one until you say you need one, and you may surprise yourself with your own ability. I enjoyed my experience with my daughter, but I to am scared about delivery with my son.
Oh and yes you can, depending on your doctor, request a c. I know this because I know someone who did (first baby no troubles). It takes longer to heal from.a c. I would be afraid to have a c myself. Most insurance won't cover an optional c and most doctors won't do one, but there are those that will. It is scary thinking about going natural, but I wouldn't go the other way unless I had to. Natural isn't that bad if you have medication, but go with what feels comfortable to you.
