paintball is extemely fun, challenging, and skill-dependant, but i would not consider it a sport because of such a dependance on the gun. but i do say it is more of a sport than some things on here (cough...darts...cough)

It really depends on the person's perspective of what a sport is. Before the X-Games, BMX, SkateBoarding & Blading were considered an activity and not a sport. Look at it now. I seriously consider paintball to be a great team sport. Some people look at hunting as a sport, I really don't consider it a sport considering that they aren't hiding, avoiding and shooting you back.

I've been playing for 10+ years, and most people consider it a extreme sport than a typical one. I'm a big advocate of paintball and it is a great sport. The only problem is that whenever someone does something stupid involving a paintball marker, the sport gets a bad rap. If someone kills someone with a baseball bat or golf clubs, those sport don't get any bad rap about it.

Paintball has really been treated unfairly, but thankfully with the coverage that ESPN, OLN, Spike and other that have been providing it, it is giving the sport some positive image.

In time, when it becomes more mainstream, more and more people aill accept it as a sport. For now, you just need to prove to them why it's considered a sport.
