america is not the most free country in the world, though. so many of its citizens are slaves of the american dream, of consuming, self-loathing and calorie counting. it's a slave and master society still, with foreign employees working for embarrassing wages. it's a society that attempts, simultaneously, to go back and advance, socially - on the one hand, you've got people who, as you said, use censorship, who are homophobic and racist, who think that the country gets to choose what is done with a private person's body. on the other hand, you've got the bill of rights, an equal chance at elections, political correctness (a double edged sword at times, i am sure).

i think every society has its flaws. there aren't any equal or free opportunities in any society as of yet - and as the "most free" country in the world, i think america hasn't earned the title. i don't know which country has. however, america is still very powerful and technologically advanced, and censorship is often pretty damn stupid.

wonder if they censor the word "damn"?

anyway. to answer your question, since america isn't as free as it pretends to be, it is not a weird thing that questions are censored.

America as a free country gives everyone the right to free speech... also among the list of freedoms comes the freedom to censure as well...
