My brother's family lives there. You could take a day trip up to nearby Sante Fe (speed limit is 75 MPH) to see some neat shops (some 400 years old) and to see Loretto CHapel, which is home to the Miraculous staircase - a winding staircase with no center support.

You could also go when they have the balloon fiesta, which is ABQ's biggest tourist attraction. http://www.balloonfiesta.com/

You could also take a ride up to the top of Sandia Peak - go right around sunset for a spectacular view. There is also a casino at the base of the mountain.

If you want to go to a nice resort, my niece runs the gift shop at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa. Stunning beauty.

Warning: This is high altitude country, so the air is thin. this means day and night temperatures vary dramatically. Dress in layers, especially if you go to Sandia peak at sunset.

Have a nice trip!

I'm not from Albuquerque but my husband was and his parents still live there. We still get over there at least four or five times a year and there's always something to do. Of course the first week in October is the Balloon Fiesta which is fantastic. There's the Old Town area that's lots of fun to just go looking or shopping at and it seems like they've always got something going on. There are lots of state parks, city parks, the museums, the aquarium, the zoo, etc. It's really a neat place. If your looking for specifics go to their web page and they keep a calendar of upcoming events.
