Your probably going to have to re-spring and re-valve the forks and shock. It's debatable at this point. Your actually heavier than Yamaha set the bike up for, but the YZ was intended for MX use, which means it's sprung and valved a little stiff. You being a little heavier than the bike is set up for might bring things back into perspective.
Whatever you do, find someone to help you set up the sag on the bike, both static and race. On all modern race bikes this is critical. If you don't have enough the suspension will chatter and bind. Too much and it'll tend to blow through travel initially, then pack. Improper sag will also effect the way the bike turns.
As a rule your looking for 4" of race, or loaded sag in the back, and 2" in the front.
Good luck!

I started on a Ninja 250 and after about a week I hated it because I wanted something bigger. I am 5'4" and 115 lbs so the size of it was OK for me to start on. It may feel like a little scooter to you...? Since you just want to have fun on it it'll probably be OK, tho. I moved up to 600's after that and still wanted to go up from there after riding friends' 1000's. But who really needs all that power unless you can really legally use it like on a track.

Sure, it will work fine, just ride slow for the first 2 weeks, no hot dogging. You will be fine in a month.
Give yourself time to learn everything about the bike and how the balance changes from time to time.

A YZ250F is plenty big! Trust me, you'll never get bored riding it.
