You DO NOT have to pump and dump and you DO NOT have to wait 48 hours. Where do people get this stuff? Do they just pull their answers out of the air?
Here is actual referenced information for you.....
The general rule is that "if your head is clear, your milk is too." Alcohol is eliminated from your breastmilk in the same way it is eliminated from your blood. If you feel sober enough to drive then you are probably sober enough to breastfeed.
Current research says that occasional use of alcohol (1-2 drinks) is not harmful to the nursing baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Drugs classifies alcohol (ethanol) as a “Maternal Medication Usually Compatible With Breastfeeding
It is recommended that nursing moms avoid breastfeeding during and for 2-3 hours after drinking (Hale 2002).
There is no need to pump & dump milk after drinking alcohol, other than for mom's comfort -- pumping & dumping does not speed the elimination of alcohol from the milk.
Less than 2% of the alcohol consumed by the mother reaches her blood and milk. Alcohol peaks in mom's blood and milk approximately 1/2-1 hour after drinking (but there is considerable variation from person to person, depending upon how much food was eaten in the same time period, mom's body weight and percentage of body fat, etc.).
The American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Drugs classifies alcohol (ethanol) as a “Maternal Medication Usually Compatible With Breastfeeding.” Just be RESPONSIBLE with how much and how often you drink. Sounds like maybe you had a bit too much if you are hung over.

The liquor is no longer in your bloodstream and therefore, no longer in your breastmilk either. You feel crappy because of dehydration. Alcohol is a diruetic...meaning it takes water out of your system (thats why you pee so much while drinking). The hang over feeling is from your body getting dehydrated. That is why if you drink 8 fluid oz of water for every alcoholic beverage you have while drinking, you wont get hung over. But, dont worry. There is nothing going into your milk once the alcohol has left your bloodstream (and the rough estimate for that is 2 hours for every drink from the beginning of the drinking session). I've done alot of research on this.

oh mary jesus and joseph!! yes there is alcohol still in your system!! don't you dare breastfeed that baby for at least three days. and drink lots of water. use a breast pump to keep the milk flowing and throw it away. it's no good!
And you feel crappy because you are now dehydrated. Your body is still producing milk and will let you dehydrate to make up the milk supply. drink lots and LOTS of water so you can flush the alcohol out of your system.
Next time you decide to drink yourself silly, keep a store of frozen breastmilk ( three day supply) in the freezer. or use formula.

Most definately there is booze in your milk!!! What did you expect? Drink tons of liquids, not booze, and flush your system. Meanwhile, you might try a bit of formula for baby. When you breastfeed everything you consume goes into your milk. (There are some exceptions with medications) Be careful.

If you are drunk, it is better not to nurse. However, once you are *sober* (even if hung over), it is fine. Or you can just wait 3-4 hours after your last drink. The risks of nursing after drinking are *less* than the risks of giving baby formula. Dr. Thomas Hale, the world's foremost expert on drugs and breastfeeding says that as soon as you are "neurologically normal" you can nurse. See sources section below for an *expert* opinion instead of a bunch of uneducated people's scare tactics.

I believe the the rule i heard is pump and dump for 24 hours after drinking. By dumping i mean is pump the breast milk and dispose of. Don't feed it to your baby.

You are not suppose to drink and breastfeed. Even if it is the day after the liquor still goes to the milk.
Someone can report you for child abuse, hope you know that.
You do not drink and drive whatsoever so you do not drink and breastfeed.

Anything you eat or drink is expressed though your milk. If you are hungover than you still have booze in your system and if you breast feed your baby will have it in his or her system.

Wait at least two hours for one drink to pass out if your system but if you get totally hammered you may want to pump and dump or just seek professional help if you feel that you need to drink and breastfeed

You bet it affects the milk!
As a woman, you have a higher fat percentage than a man and liquor is retained in the fat.
You are doing yourself and your baby a grave disservice.
