Is Pokemon Leaf Green better than Emerald?

Question

I beat Sapphire and I want to start a new one... people are saying Emerald is good, but it's in the same region as Sapphire and it sounds like it might be redundant. Leaf Green is in the old school region, right? Which one should I look into?

I don't really care too much about catching all of the Pokemon, I just don't want to be bored playing the exact same region again. Thanks for the help. :)

I own Emerald and FireRed and prefer Emerald. Not only are the Pokemon animated, but you also have the Battle Frontier (with several new places and trainers to battle) and Pokemon Contests (not present in FR or LG). Also, you can get both Kyogre and Groudon in Emerald and once you complete the Hoenn Pokedex in Emerald (using Sapphire or Ruby), you can get one of the Johto starters (Cyndaquil, Chikorita, Totodile) from the Prof.

But then again, if you want to catch them all, it might be helpful to have LG or FR.....

Emerald is awesome because it has all sort of pokemon stadium like battling possibilities after the main game is over. Moreover you can use the wireless adapter after you reach a certain point to trade pokemon with people who have leaf green and fire red - and there are plenty of pokemon you can't find in hoenn that you can find in kanto.

i totally agree with gordon david emerald's awsome i caught snubull,pineco,mareep,remoraid, sunkern, & shuckle in the safari zone and i have 2 catch stanler & milktank also plus i just hatched a tyrouge in dewford town. if u don't care about catching
pokemon then don't bother playing the game once u start playing a pokemon game it's hard 2 put it down i know this b cuz i'm playing emerald right now :)

leaf green go many GSC pokemon on the all 9 island. emerald got many special pokemon.

Depends if you need mor badges in a game. If so pick pokemon emerald, if you dont pick the other.
