Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.
- Eleanor Roosevelt

This is exactly like how America's society is. So obsessed with celebrities, talking so much about what other people have going in their private lives, constantly talking negativetly about people when they would give anything to be in their shoes. I feel people should occupy their little lives by doing something productive, instead of constantly gossiping, but that's just me.

sometimes it is not so easy to find an interesting comment like that, specially here over the net, You are right about that, but not only in the U.S,you will find that phenomenon all around occidental hemisphere, our societies have lost the the real meaning of life, and have also forgotten about aspects to make this weird world a little bit better, anyway it is good to have the chance to complain and express, and realize that some few people have criticism.

No, that's not exactly how America's society is. Yes, much of it is that way, but many Americans aren't like that. I couldn't care less about celebrities or what people have going on in their private lives. I also don't waste my time talking negatively about people, especially if I would want to be in their shoes.

It's how it is today, how it was 60 years ago and how it will be in another 60.

Sports, celebrities and other 'events' are designed to 'keep the masses happy'...sponsored by big corporations they use powerful marketing to create distractions and occupy peoples brains with junk.

How many fathers, grow men, with children, can rattle you off 1,000 different stats about the Green Bay Packers, but couldn't name all the justices on the supreme court?

There you go!

That is a fantastic quote. And yes most of America revolves around celebs, their breakups, their marriages, their kids and even at times how often they go to the bathroom. Sad.

You also generalize Americans. I could care less about celebrities. I would not like to be in their shoes. I have a better life. It is not all about money and fame.
