The previous answer told you how to "jug." A trot line is a long main line of heavy cord to which you tie a number of hooks on shorter lines spaced so they won't tangle when put into the water. You can stretch the trot line between trees or bushes along a bank or weight one end which gets dropped into the water with the line stretched out from whatever it is tied to on the bank . You can find and pull the line up as necessary to re-bait it and take of caught fish.. The baited hooks hang and float in the water until fish get caught on them. That's all there is to it.

You get a big plastic jug. put a couple of worms in it. Place the jug in the water. Then wait for a big catfish to swim into the jug. Or get a big heavy glass jug. Dangle a worm in the water. When a catfish swims by hit him over the head with the big glass jug. Or get a well endowed woman. Have her dangle one of her jugs in the water. when a big catfish comes along to breastfeed. You grab him.

Only woman with large hanging breast can do this best, but what you do is take off your bra and let you TlTS dangle there in the water. As your nippsies touch the servace of the water the catfish will see them. Nippsies look like one of the catfishes favorite foods. When the catfish goes for the bate, the woman pulls up and BOBABING! she just caust two catfish with her jugs. It's amazing to see. Try it!

You get a large hook and place meat or other bait on it. Attach via a line or rope to an empty, capped milk jug handle. Throw in the river.
When the bottle starts to bounce, you've caught something. Use a gaif on the handle to pull the jug and fish in.

Could always go "noodling". Just walk into the water, stick your hands into holes, under logs etc...when you feel something nibble, you pull out your arm. Of course, it's recommended you fish with a partner to help detach a 50lb catfish with your arm in it's mouth. And you have to watch out for snapping turtles.
Personally I don't practice this...something disturbing about catching a fish that can swallow a house pet in a local river or lake.
