I work with a peavey 4300 series mixer I have 2 tape decks and 1 5disc CD changer all of which are sony. Here is the problem I have had people bring me tapes and cd's that they intend to sing along with that are split track and they want just the music to play without the words. But I can't figure out how to do it with this setup. At home on my stereo I can just turn the balance to 1 side and it will do it but I have tried everything I can think of to do it with the mixer but I can't do it. And neither the cd player nor the tape players has a adjustable balance. Is it possible or do I need to buy something to make it possible.

I'm assuming that your are running your tape/CD player into the "Tape In". Instead of doing that, run each side into it's own channel.
Example: Left side tape player to CH 1 / Right side to CH 2 - Left of CD player to CH 3 / Right to CH 4.
Now... you can pull the fader of one channel to cut one side of the tape/CD.
