According to the bible Eve was the only girl around, so she had to practice incest. Of course when the English King James revised the current bible his committee might have just skipped on Eves daughters. In the middle ages women were second-class citizens, especially to kings who only wanted a woman to bear a male heir. This is yet another reason to say that parts of the bible are just like Greek myths. They try to explain something so that the reader can understand it, shaped by their own prejudices. The original bible wasn't compiled until 200 AD so there were no first hand witnesses to anything in the Old Testament. It isn’t complete either, recently the Gospel according to Judas was discovered, and it will probably never be included in the bible. So we can’t be sure of what parts, or people, were omitted.
