I followed the rap from the begin until now. The begin of rap was just ****. it was no music at all with some exceptions. The Rap understand now that they need to make more as to talk only with some drums and make with this money. The rap improved a lot.
Hip-Hop changed from the begin until today totaly. Much much better.
The new emerging music that came in the late 80s improved a lot, the Pop went exactly the opposite way. The Videos killed the music. Today needs a lowlevel musician only to show in the vidoesthe **** and the pussy and it is a hit. We know some like this ... Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and many others. No talent at all but they sell sex.
When the voice was the most important tool for an hit then we had 70% Males, now are 90% females and from them are around 90% naked in the videos. Just disgusting ...

Past! Now it all pretty much sounds the same. Nothing compares to Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye and Wilson Pickett. Don't get me wrong I like some of the stuff that's out now but its just for fun, much of it isn't "real" music. The talent is missing nowadays, the unmistakable original voices, the actual musical instruments are few and far between. As far as hip-hop and rap goes it seems like the songs used to have a point, a message, more often than they do now. Back then it seemed less about image and more about the lyrics.

No Question, PAST, the nonsence today is barely past garbage, old school cat and kittens remember how you felt when you heard Marvin, Barry, Luther and all the greats when their songs came on.
Now, with the exception of Maxwell and a few others, I barely listen to the radio anymore.
Now definately Past on hip hop. See Im grew up in NYC when it came to life so I know what it's like to go to block parties ( all my old schoolers feel me on this one) and have I know you got soul come on and the crowd goes apeshi*, I've been to the fever and all that, KRS-ONE, Eric B and Rakim, Chuck D ( Public Enemy- all time fave), run-dmc, Uncle L, Big daddy Kane, Nas,X-Clan, Funky 4 plus one more, Bambatta and the zulu nation, lord somebody stop me.....
Crunk and Dirty South music are the illigitimate kids of hip hop and they need to be destroyed
