Everytime I am outside I always see the yellow and black butterflies. They come VERY VERY close to me and a couple of times have almost smaked into me or my car. Its almost as though they make sure I notice they are around me constantly. What do they mean? Is it good or bad? Are they trying to tell me something? If anyone can help please inform me on what is going on!

I am not scared of them but am curious on what they mean.... they are around me A LOT and sometimes if I am dazed out it will come so close to my face and almost land on me. It has me very curious and intrigued to find out there meaning either by what they symbolize or what they mean spiritually

This is a lovely question because the answer is quite lovely.

According to Native Mythology, the butterfly represents the four stages of development.

First - the egg
Second - the larva
Third - the chrysalis
Forth - the butterfly.

If you've got butterflies entering your life, perhaps you should look at your current situation and determine what stage you are at or what stage a particular issue is either in or moving through. That will help you decide what your next, most effective steps should be.

The fact that the butterflies in question are black and yellow is also significant. Yellow represents wisdom and black creativity. Look to your current situation from those points of view and you should be able to determine what needs your creative, wise attention.

They represent freedom, growth , and rebirth. They are also believed by some to be spirits or angels of loved ones come to visit. Also note that some butterfly's as well as bees are attracted to some perfumes as well!

They're called swallowtail butterflies I think... don't worry about them. I think maybe it could be a symbol for change and metamorphosis, but I don't know that it's actually a bad thing. If I were you, I'd be happy. Butterflies are nice!

When my father died I was quite upset so I went to a garden center and bought a bunch of flowers to plant. As I was taking them out of the car a big butterfly landed on them and stayed there for the walk out back. I believe to this day it was some kind of communication between my dad or a higher power...who really knows?

In Balinese culture they believe that when a butterfly enters your home and doesn't go away, then it's telling you that you will have an important visit from someone.

Someone told me that butterflies mean luck. And if one lands on your shoulder it is a lucky sign.

You might be using a scent - shampoo, hairspray, deodorant, perfume - that has a floral base and the Swallowtail butterflies (black and yellow) are simply checking you out to see if you are a big beautiful flower! But they are lovely, so enjoy them!
