As long as you finish the individual boards and not stop in the middle of a board or you will have overlap which would look ugly.

Ryan 7 has the clue.

Board by board would be the way to proceed.

Personally I'd never "Stain" a Deck, but the customer is always right, even when they aren't.

It's truly up to you, depending on the size of the deck, your commitment to the job, and time you can devote to it. Personally I want to be in and out asap,,, even if that means extending some hours,,, and BTW,, daylight savings time is still in effect in most places in the USA.

You could enlist help if this was gonna be a one person job... have a cooler of drinkables, edibles, and party after.

Again,,, regarding Ryan 7. If you stop mid board, for example, and return to it the next day,,, or if you've lost motivation, NEXT WEEK, you'll have to stir the stain apply it overlapping and the overlap will show in a double coat coloration.

Soooooo after that diatribe, do it all, or don't do it AT ALL.

yes you should do it all in one day, but first things first, if this is a brand new deck, and is made of pressure treated wood, you will have to wait at least six months to allow all the water that is inside the wood to escape,(that's why they call it pressure treated) they basically press all the water and chemicals into the wood. and a little trick that i found out that works really good, you will need to cover up some stuff to protect it from the stain, is use a bug sprayer, fill it up, pump up the air pressure and let it rip, definitely a time saver.

Is your deck too big to do in one day or are you being lazy. Remember if you don't finish it in one day you may not feel like doing it the day after. Then you have a half finished deck and your neighbours will talk

I guess you can do it all in one day. It depends on how much time you have.. but it won't matter whether you do it over one day or two as long as it's even and you're sure you'll do it the next day.. because sometimes the feeling goes away...
