we have been married 7 1/2yrs, have a 3yr old son, i worked and attended school full-time until we had our son, he is an E-6 in the navy with 8yrs.

and he cheated and has a girlfriend, so i'm not the one ruining a 3yr old's life.

Sometimes people's answers just kill me. Of course money is a problem, one has to survive.

the amounts of maintenence are set by guidelines in each state.
have a look on http://www.divorcenet.com/, there is a lot of information. In general, the amount is determined by how much you earn, how much he earn... in any case, there is some amount (even if you earn $$), to cover the child's needs... but the details are really set in court.

So you hedge your bet on getting a divoce depending on the money.

No I'm not going to help you be a selfish brat and ruing a 3-year olds family.

If you need to get a divorce his money should not be a factor, the only factor is t hat of the you and the child.
