I think the quote is very accurate. If you don't remember the mistakes made in the past, it's very likely those mistakes will be repeated....with the same outcome. This is true on a personal level and a global level.
I think history is very interesting. I didn't always like it in school (the memorizing was tedious) but I liked to learn about the events. I've done a lot of reading about history on my own. Also, I've always lived near places of historic significance. It's kind of hard not to be interested when that's the case!

that quotation is very true. Personally I believe that history repeats itself , of course in a different degree and characters, sitiuations so on so forth. For example, the news has been raving about Illegal immigrants and all that comes with it. Didnt we see the same situation when persecuted pilgrims came to the New World? The Native Americans after a while saw there lifestyle treathened by these people so they tried to stop them.

1993: a truck bomb explodes underneath the World Trade Center in New York. Luckily, the bomb doesn't do the damage it was intended to do. It still kills 6 people and injures 1,000. The blame is put on Islamic fundemantalists led by Ramzi Yousef. Fast forward to September 11th, 2001. Planes fly into the World Trade Center and bring them down. The person who is considered the "principal architect" for the 9/11 attacks is Khalid Shaikh Mohammed. Khalid is the Uncle of Yousef.
This is one of many examples of people who ignore history and then repeat it. It's important we remember the past.

I think the quote means that it is important to learn from your past so that you will not make the same mistake(s) again in the future. More often than not, people tend to disregard the past, like the event may not happen again. However, history does repeat itself.
I like history. I find it fascinating to learn about what happened before we were here.

I think this quote is correct. How often have you made a mistake & learned to never do THAT again? Whether it was sticking your tongue to the end of a battery or fixing your hair a certain way-you probably learned FAST what happened.
I love history-esp. American History, ancient history, medieval history.

The US president and defense secretary certainly didn't learn anything from history. They are now making the insurgents even angrier and more of our soldiers will be killed in Iraq.
I love history. That is how I learned that Donald Rumsfeld was one of the original people who groomed and trained Saddam Hussein for leadership of Iraq - oh so many years ago! My, how Mr Rumsfeld has changed! Turned on his own buddy and now has him on trial for his life.

More world leaders should pay attention to it. I love history; it's amazing to think about the fact that it's about actual people who really did exist in just the same way that I exist.
